| I found this on another forum and thought i would post it as it is relevent to what goes through out head every day.
You can’t do it”…”This is too hard.”….” This is tough! Maybe you should back off.”
These are words you hear whispering in the back of your head during a grueling workout. It’s that inner voice that tells you no. That voice isn’t you though. You don’t really speak like that. You know that voice is weak. He nags and he pleads, but you’re too damn determined. You don’t stop. Your eyes are getting foggy and the sweat is flooding down your brow , seeping into your eyes. It stings like a bitch, but you still don’t quit.
“You don’t really need to do this. No one will know if you stop now. You’ve already had a good workout.”
That voice is sounding a little more desperate as you heart thunders harder. You’re pushing yourself; however, you seem to be moving in slow motion no matter how hard you try to speed up. Every muscle is burning. Still, the voice negotiates, “If you quit now you can still pat yourself on the back,” As usual, you don't respond. You have 10 seconds left and the whisper is almost screaming for submission. You simply focus on your task and drive your body harder through the pain. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! Your time is up. Like a ghost he shrinks away, hunched, but you know he’ll be back tomorrow...fatigue is such a coward. | |
